This year marks the beginning of many changes for me.  I have always wanted to connect with other knitters and people who love to embroider and sew.  Since I joined WordPress, I have found many wonderful bloggers and I have enjoyed their posts.  They have provided me with inspiration, encouragement and support as I have spread my wings to try new patterns and techniques. I hope that my blog will do the same for you.

As I post, I will share the blogs I have enjoyed.  Plus any new dyers and spinners I come across and my adventures at the local yarn or fabric store.

Currently, I am learning to knit socks.  I have my first one cast on.  These will be a gift for my guy.  I hope he will like them.  The pattern I am using is from Churchmouse Yarns. It is their Basic Sock in two gauges.  The thing I like about the pattern is it is very flexible; it allows you to design your sock.  You can choose whether to do it in stockinette or in a ribbed pattern.  I have chosen to do the first 1.5″ of the cuff in K1/P1 with the remainder of the cuff and instep in K2/P2.  The other great thing about the pattern is that it really explains the anatomy of a sock.

I am knitting them on US size 1.5 dpn needles.  I hope to eventually graduate to knitting socks on two circular needles.  The yarn is Malabrigo Sock in the Persia colorway.  This is a gorgeous superwash merino.  It is soft and I love the variation in the color.  I am a sucker for kettle-dyed or hand-dyed yarn.  If you follow the link, you can see all of the beautiful colors.

I have to thank the very helpful ladies at Cream City Yarn.  The helped me pick out the right pattern and showed me all of my yarn options.  If you are in the Milwaukee area, you should definitely check them out.
